BATB099_Tips to help you wake up earlier
My favourite parts of the day are early mornings and late at night (I get my best ideas at both these times) 👍
But I have to be honest; it's taken me years to love an early start!
When I was 18, I remember sleeping in until 11am and my mum telling me "you've wasted half the day", I just didn't get it! 🤷♀️⏰
Now, I do!
Here are some tried and tested tips to help you get up on time and seize the day!
Place your alarm out of arms reach so that your feet have to touch the floor to switch off your alarm; this will help stop you from hitting 'snooze' ⏰
Once you're up, switch on the light immediately (this will help you resist the urge to crawl back into bed)! 💡🌟
Set your alarm to go off 5 minutes earlier every day, until you reach your target wake-up time. By gradually setting your alarm earlier; It won't be such a shock to your system 😴
Once you reach your target, try to wake up at the same time every day (or at least on weekdays).
If we wake up at the same time every day, we can reinforce our circadian rhythm and be triggered to go to sleep at the same time every night. Waking up at the same time every day helps us feel more energised over time 🤩
Investing in a sunrise alarm clock has made the most positive impact on my mornings 🌅
Instead of waking up to an alarm sound that shocks the body, a sunrise alarm clock gradually illuminates your room in a way that mimics morning light, softly waking you from sleep 😊💕
When exposed to light in the morning, our brain prompts our body to feel revitalized and helps sleep-inducing hormones like melatonin drop off, rousing us from sleep.
According to sleep expert, Alex Dimitriu MD "Our circadian system is closely tuned to natural and artificial light. Light-based alarm clocks can provide a gentle wake signal to prepare the body for wakefulness."
Google a 'sunrise alarm' to see which one is best for you! 👍
Often the thought of waking up from our cosy sleep fills us with dread 😫
To combat this, ask yourself the question;
What could I do to make my mornings something you look forward to?
Is it making a nice cup of coffee, reading a chapter of your book or listening to a guided meditation on YouTube? ☕️📚
Many of us have chores to do in the morning, but what could you do just for you, for a few minutes, as soon as you wake up that represented a little me time?
When you spend a few minutes in the evenings putting together your outfit for the next day, it will save you time in the mornings and eliminate stress 👗✨
Plus, you're likely to feel happier in what you wear!
When we're short of time in the mornings, we're more likely to grab the same outfits repeatedly, which results in us feeling as though we're in a style rut.
Planning your outfits, the night before will encourage you to try a new look and possibly add an extra special touch to your look (such as a necklace) 💁♀️
You'll enjoy what you wear much more and this, in turn, will help boost your confidence every day! 💖
I hope my 'WAKEY, WAKEY' tricks will help you feel like you're seizing your day...
...and adding in a little extra me time! 💕
